Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, a 24 year old American student, will probably spend the rest of his life in prison. And the legal formalities to ensure his fate got underway yesterday in a courtroom just outside Washington DC – where Abu Ali is on trial for allegedly conspiring to assassinate President Bush.
In an article published here on 1 March 2005, I wrote about the controversy surrounding this case. The odd thing, however, is that the conspiracy to kill Bush is not its most controversial feature. That dubious distinction goes to the education Abu Ali received (courtesy of Bush’s friends – the royal family of Saudi Arabia) at an Islamic Academy less than 10 miles from the White House.
But his trial is anti-climatic. In fact, if ever there were a show trial in the United States, this is it.
Nevertheless, click here to read about Abu Ali’s claims that his confession was extracted by torture and about the school for scandal that made him guilty by education.

Your perspective on this trial is refreshing. Most articles focus on the “torture” allegations and specualate on whether Abu Ali really wanted to kill Bush. But your assertion that he may be “guilty by education” is very insightful. The real crime here is not the terror charge against Bush but the Wahabi schools that teach terror against the United States.
Thank you.

This is unbelievable! Maybe Bush really does have a death wish. It would serve us right if the Muslims destroys us if we allow them to teach this anti America crap in the nation’s capital.
Why isn’t this guy already rotting down in Gantanamo Bay?
God help us.

he was only a kid from VA who wanted to learn his religion. he applied and got into one of the most pretigious islamic universities in the world, medina university in saudi arabia. he was pulled out by saudi officials under the pressure of the US to make arrests for the Riyadh bombings.
with the US’s full knowledge and cooperation, abu ahmed was tortured, as so many of saudi prisoners are. this is a well known fact, any agency such as amnesty international has reported for decades. it was after physical and mental torture abu ahmed “confessed”. the fbi agents admitted he did tell them of mental torture, and they admit they never looked into it.
abu ahmed is just another victim of the US witchhunt on innocent muslims. he has been caught in the US campaign of capturing anybody and anyone who has a muslim name and who has a beard, and then showing the world they are succeeding in the “war on terror”.
but one day there will be justice for all. this life is but a test for all of us.
