Elon Musk’s interview with Donald Trump on X last week turned out to be as ill-fated as it was overhyped. It was marred by the same technical glitches that dogged their first interview. And that’s because Musk took foolish pride in gutting his platform of many engineers.
But this time, the United Auto Workers union (UAW) is suing them for intimidating workers by threatening to fire anyone who goes on strike.
Except that these “two rich guys” were doing far more than intimidating and threatening workers. They were openly conspiring to help Trump steal the presidential election or, failing that, destroy American democracy – even if that means inciting civil war.
Of course, Musk routinely exercises absolute immunity to break the X rules he imposes on other users. A key feature of his rule-breaking is using X to propagate Trump’s MAGA lies. And, by any objective measure, this amounts to election interference that would make Russian President Vladimir Putin green with envy.
Biden should leave Trump to suffer historic humiliation at the polls. But he should have Musk arrested! And he should use the absolute immunity the Supreme Court just conferred on the presidency to nationalize X, Starlink, and SpaceX in the interest of national security and American democracy.
