I appreciate why many of you might laugh or even scoff at this prospect. And President Trump’s kakistocratic staff did not help his cause by hailing his nomination for something called the “Noble” Peace Prize.
Frankly, this and far too many other blunders make him more worthy of nomination for the igNobel Prize, which I’ve been lampooning for over a decade in commentaries like
- “Africa’s igNobel Prize for Leadership Awarded to Joaquim Chissano of Mozambique,” October 30, 2007;
- “Mo Ibrahim Prize: No winner of Africa’s Version of the Nobel Prize…?!” October 20, 2009; and
- “Nobody Wins Africa’s igNobel Prize for Leadership … Again,” November 20, 2013.
And, let’s face it, no Western leader has more in common with Africa’s sh*thole leaders than Trump.
Nonetheless, if President Obama could win the Nobel Peace Prize for not brokering a single peace, don’t you think President Trump should win for brokering several? After all, Trump has already brokered previously unimagined peace (i.e., normalization of relations) between Israel and the UAE, and between Israel and Bahrain, which the White House is proselytizing as the Abraham Accords. And signs point to him brokering peace between Afghanistan and the Taliban within months.
There’s no denying the progress these accords represent in the overall Mideast peace process. But these should not blind us to the glaring sleight of hand inherent in focusing on them while ignoring the big elephant in the room, namely (the lack of) peace between Israel and the Palestinians. In fact, given the way Trump is hailing these accords, you’d never know that
- peace between Israel and the Palestinians was always a precondition for peace in the Middle East; and
- the Palestinians are accusing Arab states who sign these accords of betrayal, recognizing that these accords will make peace between them and Israel even more elusive.
Nonetheless, the point of this commentary is to note that I duly laughed and even scoffed at Obama winning this coveted prize in “Obama Awarded (Affirmative Action) Nobel Peace Prize,” October 10, 2009. This is why I’m obliged to raise the following question:
- Has your hatred of Trump so blinded you to objective truth that you can no longer see it?
Because, if you can’t see this truth, you are every bit as stupid as the nincompoops who believe the 20,000-plus lies Trump has told since they elected him president of the United States.
Regular readers of this blog know that I think Trump is the first US president who seems the personification of the anti-Christ. But, hell, if we can give the Devil his due, surely we can give Trump his, no?
I have lambasted the Nobel Committee for awarding its prize to the likes of Yassar Arafat and Bob Dylan – as “The Nobel Prize: Dylan No More Worthy Than Obama,” October 24, 2016, attests. So, if the Committee hopes to retain what little credibility it has left, it will announce Trump as the undisputed winner of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize.
