The Dalai Lama is the most famous migrant in history. Of course, he’s a self-professed holy man. So you’d think he would be using his moral authority to support migrants everywhere. But nothing could be further from the truth.
The Dalai Lama is an anti-migrant hypocrite
[H]e said that refugees to the European Union should ultimately return home, adding that ‘Europe is for Europeans.’…
The Dalai Lama believes the end game should be to rebuild the countries people have fled. … ‘A limited number is OK, but the whole of Europe [will] eventually become Muslim country, African country – impossible,’ he said.
(BBC, June 27, 2019)
No doubt the Dalai Lama would say he would face immediate arrest or worse if he returned home. And that this is why he’s not practicing what he preaches. Except most EU-bound refugees would face the same fate.
The patent hypocrisy of his ‘Europe-is-for-Europeans‘ declaration is undeniable.
The Dalai Lama is racist
That declaration is racist. Remarkably, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI made a similar declaration over a decade ago. The Dalai Lama is only echoing his racist pontification.
It’s dismaying that these “holy” men are proselytizing xenophobia and racism. But, paraphrasing Joseph Stalin, their only saving grace is that neither the Dalai Lama nor the pope controls an army.
Why are Africans migrating to Europe?
As it happens, I got a taste of the backlash the Dalai Lama is getting. I dared to criticize incompetent, corrupt, and violent leadership in Africa.
I decried African leaders forcing their citizens to seek refuge with former colonial masters. And this is happening 50 years after decolonization. So, the criticism seemed wholly justified.
Some might see little difference between criticism and the Dalai Lama’s xenophobia. Except that he wants to preserve Europe’s dominant white-Christian demographic. Pope Benedict wanted to do the same. I don’t.
Instead, I want rule of law to prevail where these migrants flee from. I want sustainable development to enable Africans to thrive in Africa. And I want Africans to enrich their culture – in Africa.
The Dalai Lama is sexist
Shockingly, his sexism matched the xenophobia he expressed in that BBC interview. For example, the Dalai Lama pronounced that
- makeup is necessary for women because nobody wants to see a “dead face,” and
- a female could succeed him if she’s “very, very attractive.”
The Dalai Lama is reputed as the planet’s most enlightened spiritual leader. Yet he’s spewing this chauvinistic BS.
I hailed and defended him when
- he spoke out against China’s Buddhist intifada;
- South Africa banned him from a peace conference to appease China, and
- the pope shunned him to appease China.
But I shudder to think that he was proselytizing xenophobic, racist, and sexist messages all along. Whatever the case, the Dalai Lama’s reputation as a revered holy man is now beyond repair.
