Sensational rape trial opens for former Deputy President of South Africa

I said: “eh eh (no) umalume [uncle]”.

This was some of the dramatic and damning testimony given in court yesterday by the 31-year old woman who has accused former South African Deputy President Jacob Zuma of rape. And reports are that her recounting of this crime was as credible as it was graphic. But what made it particularly heart-wrenching was her anguished revelation that when her Daddy – Zuma’s good friend – died, she came to regard Zuma as:

“…a father and I treated him as a father and he treated me as a daughter.”

Indeed, she apparently developed such devotion for and trust in Zuma as a father figure that:

“When she was diagnosed with HIV in April 1999 she told Zuma because ‘as a father it was an important part of my life that he should know about’.”

Ironically, the victim provided unwitting insight into Zuma’s psychotic mind when she testified that, after satisfying his depraved lust, Zuma pecked her on the cheek – as a loving Daddy might after tucking-in his daughter at night – then left the room. Indeed, as if to assure her of his paternal affection, she claims that Zuma began his assault by:

“…pushing and thrusting…and said ‘I told you I’d take care of you…sweetheart. You are a real girl’.”

She then told the court that, after Zuma was through with her, she felt compelled to touch herself and found to her horror that Zuma had ejaculated inside of her.

So, this fatherly, former head of South Africa’s Moral Regeneration Campaign and putative president-in-waiting allegedly raped a woman he knew was HIV positive and did not even bother to wear a condom. (Just as I suspected was the case in this previous article.) However, instead of claiming that the sex was consensual – which, in fact, makes him the personification of moral degeneration, Zuma should defend himself by claiming that he was, evidently, insane.

Though, either way, Zuma seems bound for the familiar confines of a prison cell. Only this time, he will be jailed not as a respected (anti-apartheid) freedom fighter but as a disgraced, misogynistic sexual predator. Yet – symptomatic of the African Big Dada pathology (which holds that black liberators can do no wrong) – for a disturbing number of poor and uneducated South African blacks, Zuma could be charged with raping ten women and they would still stand by their man.
