Boy, talk about racial profiling. Because only racism explains white cops breaking up a typical fight at a suburban mall by comforting the white teen while cuffing the Black one…
The viral video clearly shows the (bigger) white kid was the aggressor. Moreover, it shows him on top pummeling the Black kid when two white cops intervened.
But their racial bias is such that, while one cop pulled the white kid off and sat him comfortably on a nearby couch, the other appeared to tag-team to finish his fight.
Because he wrestled the Black kid back to the ground and used his full body weight, with a knee planted in this kid’s back, to cuff him. And, after appearing to comfort the white kid, the other cop ganged up on the Black kid, putting another knee in his back to complete the racial spectacle.
Meanwhile, teenage voices could be heard, as they recorded on their smart phones, making this obvious observation: “It’s because he is Black. Racially motivated.” And so it was.
In fact, it was as racially motivated as white cops treating white Dylan Roof to Burger King after arresting him with kid gloves. And this, despite knowing that he had just killed 9 Black people in a church in Charleston.
Of course, it was also as racially motivated as white cops killing George Floyd in broad daylight. I could list many others, but you get the point…
Which is that nobody should be surprised by any racial bias white cops show against Black folks. Ultimately, though, nothing betrays how racially motivated this incident was quite like the way the white kid stood up after the cops cuffed the Black kid and put his hands out in front together at the wrists.
Because this white kid was clearly gesturing to the white cops, as if to say, “Okay I guess it’s my turn now to be cuffed.” But they gave him a baffled looked, as if to say, “What’s the matter with you, you know we’re not going to arrest you.”
And that, folks, is criminal justice in America … in black and white.
