As the first planeloads of angry Haitian migrants arrived in Port-au-Prince on Sunday after being repatriated from the U.S.-Mexico border, the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security defended the deportations, saying misinformation is behind the attempts to enter the United States.
Emphasizing that the administration is accelerating repatriation flights to Haiti and possibly other countries, Alejandro Mayorkas warned Haitians not to attempt the journey because it will not succeed.

The reason they are so angry is that the asylum process underway is so “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short”, the Biden administration is not even bothering to inform these godforsaken people where they are being summarily deported to…? Reports are that many thought, or hoped, they were being taken back to Brazil or Venezuela … not Haiti.
Meanwhile, these poor Haitians are being denied this basic human consideration by the country that beckons the world to “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” But imagine going through purgatory and reaching the point of “purification” only to be told it was all for naught, and you end up not only where you started but in far worse circumstances.
Still, think what you will about the way America is turning them away. Because it is still treating these migrants a thousand times better than all countries in Central and South America, where Haitians are being variously herded through like cattle and preyed upon like wounded wildebeests by packs of hyenas.
What cruel fate …
Haiti is fated to loom amidst the islands of the Caribbean as Africa does amidst the continents of the world — as a dark, destitute, diseased, desperate, disenfranchised, dishonest, disorganized, disassociated, dangerous and, ultimately, dysfunctional mess. …
And, even though white foreign faces appear as evil forces from time to time, black indigenous faces (like those of the Tonton Macoutes, FRAPH, and even Catholic Lavalas devotees) are the constant, central, and catalytic characters in Haiti’s purgatory.

By the way, do not fall prey to clarion calls to cry racism. Because the reason former President Barack Obama earned the moniker “deporter in chief” is that he did in spades to Haitians and Hispanics alike what Biden is doing to these Haitians.
