In this recent CNN article, I commented on the reasons why there was probably some merit after all to Mohammed al-Fayed’s seemingly delusional claims that Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed were murdered. Alas, London’s Daily Mail reports that the man who gave credence to those claims, former Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir John Stevens, is due to publish the findings of his exhaustive enquiry into the death of Princess Diana, which concludes:
“[We] have found no evidence to contradict the French findings that Diana died in a tragic road traffic accident caused by excessive speed [and that] there is no evidence she was killed unlawfully.”
Cold Case Closed!
Here’s to Diana: May she rest in peace…finally!
Princess Diana, death conspiracy, inquest

Btw, how about that superstition about famous deaths occurring in 3s? Any thoughts on Ali Farka Toure and Gordon Parks (who probably don’t belong in the same group)?

Touché Ravic!
I suppose if Johnny Lee Hooker were still alive, I’d be concerned. But I don’t want make any more of this “superstition” than I already have. Moreover, I’m loath to specualate about who might die next to fulfill it’s macabre mandate. (Although, technically, I imagine one could argue that Dana Reeve has already done it….)
