Elon Musk threw the following tantrum that triggered a schism in MAGA world:

Musk is leading efforts to recruit foreign workers as indentured servants in Silicon Valley, effectively taking American jobs. That comes as a rude awakening for MAGA foot soldiers. After all, they bought Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric hook, line, and sinker.

Steve Bannon, Trump’s top consigliere, is leading the MAGA blowback. And, in Trumpian fashion, he’s name-calling Musk as a “toddler” who’d sooner do Hitler’s bidding than Washington’s.

Trump sides with billionaire Johnnies come lately

Speaking of their cult leader, Trump is golfing while MAGA implodes. In fact, he broke his conspicuous silence to side with Musk, and gloat on Truth Social that “everyone wants to be my friend.” He thinks this because billionaires are queuing up at Mar-a-Lago like supplicants at the Vatican of grift.

They’re making pilgrimages, but CEOs like Amazon’s Bezos and Google’s Brin aren’t pilgrims paying respect. Rather, they’re tribunes paying tribute by greasing Trump’s palms to ensure he either stays out of their business or implements policies to help them. Just ask TikTok’s CEO.

Musk’s MAGA contempt

The real story here is that Trump seems so dazzled by Musk’s wealth that he’s letting this autistic tech bro walk all over him. And Musk’s loving it — yucking it up with Netanyahu as they both hailed him the “unofficial president.” But it speaks volumes that Trump is standing by as Elon even bullies his MAGA followers. After all, this H1B visa flak comes on the heels of him shadow-banning some and dismissing others as “contemptible fools.”

Frankly, Trump is acting like a lovesick, dick-whipped puppy. But Musk is only expressing the contempt Trump has always shown his supporters. More to the point, now that Trump no longer needs MAGA riff-raff for votes, he might finally show these dupes that he never cared about them – and cares even less about how his billionaire courtiers treat them…

Put another way, they who pay this president make the policy: Hail, American broligarchy!
