McKinney finally apologized. But, alas, it was too little too late…

In this article on Wednesday, I dismissed Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney as an unabashed scoundrel for pleading racism to excuse her boorish behavior. And, I lambasted the Congressional Black Caucus and other black leaders for either tacitly or actively supporting her self-indulgent and ill-fated campaign to turn her assault on a Capitol Hill police officer into a new civil rights movement.

Of course, the dubious nature of her campaign became manifest as soon as McKinney began her series of farcical appearances on TV and radio all over America. Because any reasonable person could see through her fatuous argument that – even though she refused to follow Capitol Hill security measures – it was the police officer she punched when he tried to question her who was guilty of a racist assault.

Unfortunately, it took the empanelling of a federal grand jury on Friday to get black leaders to prevail upon McKinney to abandon her campaign and do what I suggested she should have done before she made a spectacle of herself and all of black America: i.e., apologize for her asinine and criminal behavior, shut up and remember to wear proper I.D. next. But her apology, such as it was, fell far short of the mark of contrition and acknowledgement warranted by the political damage she caused.

NOTE: Perhaps McKinney is waiting to be convicted at trial to throw herself on the mercy of the court and make a proper apology then. Stay tuned….

This is too funny. But you’re right, she has made a fool of herself and embarassed the rest of us in the process.
