Princess Kate hospitalized
The Princess of Wales shocked the world earlier today with this breaking news:
The Princess of Wales is to stay in hospital for up to two weeks after undergoing abdominal surgery.
Kensington Palace said the procedure was planned and successful but the princess is not expected to resume royal duties for months.

Her doctors say Kate should make a full recovery in time for Easter. Thank God.
King Charles (to be) hospitalized
But, given that news about Kate, you’d expect King Charles, her father-in-law, to lead the nation in expressing sympathy and well wishes. Instead, mere hours later, he shocked the world too with this breaking news:
King Charles III is set to attend hospital next week for treatment for an enlarged prostate. Buckingham Palace said the King’s condition is benign but he will undergo a “corrective procedure”.
The 75 year old’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation, the Palace said.

It is noteworthy that Kate chose to keep the reason for her surgery private. Because Charles is notoriously private, yet he chose to make his public.
He had his PR flaks spin his pending surgery into a public service announcement. They pronounced that His Majesty decreed this unusual disclosure to encourage men of a certain age to have regular prostate examinations. However, tampon Charlie only shared this intrusive detail to upstage Kate.
Still, why couldn’t Charles wait, like Kate, until he was admitted to make his announcement?
I suspect that, just as it was with the media darling Diana, Charles is jealous of the attention the media lavishes on Kate. And this rushed announcement shows it. In effect, Charles is saying there shall be only one celebrity in this family, and he’s it.
Of course, celebrity grifter Meghan Markle couldn’t abide playing second fiddle even to his mother, the Queen. So, she chose exile in America with a huff and a puff.
But Kate is not only the future queen; she’s also more serene. So, she’ll just wait her turn. In the meantime, spinning her hospital stay into a PSA might move her to share more details in due course.
CNN’s ‘King Charles’
Meanwhile, it’s a wonder Buckingham Palace hasn’t already sent a cease and desist letter to CNN. After all, CNN has a new talk show featuring Gayle King and Charles Barkley titled “King Charles.”
That seems like an untenable misappropriation of a famous name. Indeed, “King Charles” is so cringeworthy, the most interesting thing about this new show is its name.
Then, again, its low ratings might be why the Palace is keeping its powder dry. Because CNN will probably cancel this show before spring is sprung.
