This computer generated collage is being exhibited at a reputable gallery as a work of art. And, despite capturing the well-publicized attention of the Secret Service, its creator feels protected from censorship and criminal prosecution by the freedom of expression enshrined in the First Amendment of the US Constitution. And well he should!
Nevertheless, I can think of many artistic, provocative and irreverent ways to lampoon President Bush. This, however, stirs in me about as much artistic interest as a brown paper bag.
What do you think?

Even a brown paper bag can be a piece of art, the way Marcel Duchamp’s Urinoir is or the number of other pieces which belong to Pop Art, Enviroments, Happenings, Arte Povera, Conceptual Art, etc., are.
But, in the case of this images of Mr. G.Bush and the gun, one can only perceive a political message, and , may be, remember a very specific attitude toward arts, so called socrealistic.
Anyway, it’s difficult to understand an American artist, who has basic knowledge about 20th century art, about achievments of Stuart Davis, Jasper Johns, Claes Oldenburg, Roy Lichenstein, Andy Warhol, and many others, why he has a need to to produce such a clumsy piece of “something”.
May be it is a way to express political, social,….concerns, but with Arts it has nothing to do.

of course, since “art is in the eye of the beholder” anything qualifies. but where pop art is concerned, it helps to appreciate the difference between shrewd self-promotion (public relations) and artistic merit. in this case, the object of the piece seems more about the artist than about art or any political message since it fails miserably in both of these respects.
but you’re right easteuropean. it is undeniably a clumsy piece of something.
