So, it does matter if you’re ‘Black Or White’
On Saturday, during an interview with The Guardian, Janet Jackson caused quite a backlash with the following comments about Kamala Harris:
Well you know what they supposedly said? She’s not Black. That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian. [When the reporter told her Harris is ‘both,’ she responded] Her father’s white. That’s what I was told.
But nobody should’ve been surprised. After all, the whole Jackson family believes Michael’s adopted White kids are Black and “look so much like him.” So perish the thought that Michael was the only wacko-Jacko in their family. Indeed, Janet is affirming the gaslighting inherent in Michael’s hit, it doesn’t matter if you’re “Black Or White.”
Janet goes full MAGA
Meanwhile, MAGA Republicans are cheering louder than any crowd at her concerts ever did. After all, Janet is parroting Trump’s tired, racist conspiracy theories about Kamala’s racial identity. And with her, “Well, you know what they supposedly said?,” Janet is even cribbing his lines to frame her ignorance.
Except, here’s where it gets really bizarre. Her PR guru, Mo Elmasri, attempted damage control by issuing a public apology, blaming the prevailing culture of misinformation for Janet’s blunder. But Janet, perhaps eager to show she’s still in “Control,” promptly disowned the apology and fired him. And what could be more Trumpian than doubling down like that?
Mind you, her cringeworthy MAGA rant has generated more media attention than her lackluster concert tour ever could. And, like Laura Loomer, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and other MAGA shrews, Janet lives in a dystopian universe where black is white and bad press is good press.
