Meghan commiserating with Serena
Meghan Markle says people hate her because she’s ambitious, like Serena Williams. That’s her way of commiserating.
She released the first episode of her Archetypes podcast today. It features Markel lashing out at those who criticized her for marrying Prince Harry. That reveals how clueless and self-absorbed she is. After all, Markel titled this episode “The Misconception of Ambition with Serena Williams.”
The Duchess of Sussex spoke to the tennis legend, who is one of her close friends, about double standards women face when they are labelled ‘ambitious.’

Except that the most notable thing about this episode was how Meghan used Serena as a prop. And how Serena played along.
But Meghan is living in a parallel universe. She makes Trump’s MAGA supporters seem grounded in reality. Because the only “misconception” afoot is Meghan’s comparing her mid-life pursuit of a prince with Serena’s lifelong quest for grand slams.
Archetypal manipulator
I am not a fan. Of Meghan, that is. Everything she has done since she started dating Prince Harry smacks of manipulation. That’s why labeling it “ambitious” reeks of self-aggrandizement.
‘[Meghan] doesn’t like losing [and] feels enormous bitterness and resentment towards the royal family for not letting her modernize [it]’ said Angela Levin, who reportedly spent a year with Harry while writing his biography.
(The New York Post, August 17, 2022)
What is so perverse is that Meghan’s ambitions became even more apparent after she married Harry. She reportedly wanted to reform the monarchy in her image. That is, to succeed where Diana failed. But the Firm did not let her have her way in the UK. So she set her sights on creating an alternate monarchy in the US – only one with more pomp and celebrity, less duty and responsibility.
A friend indeed who Serena least needs
I cannot overstate the wonder of Serena still giving Meghan the time of day. I expressed my misgivings in many blog posts, including Wimbledon: Serena Becoming Forever Lady-in-waiting for GS 24,” July 13, 2019.
I was especially dismayed because Serena spent more time fawning over Duchess Meghan than preparing for her grand slams. Unfortunately, since then, Serena’s record of failure vindicates my warning about Meghan being a grand slam jinx.
Yet here is Meghan exploiting media coverage of Serena’s final appearance at the US Open next week. That is the only explanation for Meghan using Serena to launch her self-indulgent podcast this week.
Moreover, instead of preparing for that tournament, Serena is fawning over now-exiled Duchess Meghan.
