I don’t get it…I said I was sorry
Last night, in a stunningly unprecedented move, Harvard’s Faculty voted 218 to 185 to express a “Lack of Confidence in the leadership” of the University’s embattled president, Lawrence H. Summers.
The no confidence motion was submitted by Professor of Anthropology and African American Studies, J. Lorand Matory. Few informed observers expected the outcome of the secret ballot to be so decisively against Summers whose relentless performance of penance in recent weeks made the plight of Sisyphus seem like kid’s play at a bowling alley. The fate of this thoroughly discredited president now lies with Harvard’s 7 member governing board – whose members only yesterday afternoon expressed unanimous confidence in Summers’ leadership. Of course, since they are far more political than intellectual, the board’s confidence may prove decidedly susceptible to that majority vote.
Clear out your desk, Mr Summers!
