The US economy added 254,000 jobs, outpacing forecasts by a mile. The unemployment rate dipped to 4.1%. And the stock market is setting so many new records it’s defying the laws of economic gravity. All Americans should be celebrating, but MAGA Republicans are seething. Why? Because they’ve been brainwashed by Trump’s dystopian gospel of American carnage. Indeed, cue Trump hitting the campaign trail, making more false claims about the Biden administration rigging the numbers.
Meanwhile, the timing couldn’t be worse for Trump. For starters, early voting has begun, and Election Day is only a month away. But this jobs report also comes on the heels of Biden and Harris mediating the suspension of a dockworkers’ strike that could have derailed the economy. Trump had MAGA Republicans banking on economic turmoil to fuel their 2024 campaign. With soaring stocks and record job growth, however, that strategy is sinking faster than Trump’s legal defense fund.
MAGA Republicans now face an inconvenient truth: under Biden/Harris, the economy is thriving like never before. And, for a party that feeds on chaos and fear, good news is bad news, which ironically fits Trump’s dystopian rhetoric. Still, this brand of unpatriotic campaigning should be disqualifying.
