Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo is confronting the most tumultuous moment of his three terms in office, after multiple women, some of them current or former state employees, accused him of sexual harassment or other inappropriate behavior. …
Calls for Mr. Cuomo’s resignation have spread from Republicans to his fellow Democrats, and from Albany, the State Capitol, to Washington, where most of New York’s congressional delegation has joined the chorus demanding that he step down. Those urging Mr. Cuomo to resign include the state’s U.S. senators, Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand. …
Beyond the sexual harassment allegations, dozens of current and former employees of the governor’s office have described it more broadly as a chaotic and unprofessional workplace that was particularly toxic for young women.
(The New York Times, March 13, 2021)
Bill Clinton had a consensual sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky in the White House. Yet that led to his impeachment in the 1990s.
But, given recent MeToo revelations about the predatory nature of the workplace, the outrage Clinton’s behavior incited now smacks of sense and sensibilities from the 1950s. The sexual harassment purportedly evolved and progressive men like Weinstein, Rose, and Moonves perpetrated is truly shocking.
As for Andrew Cuomo, resigning would be getting off far too easily. I believe the women. I agree with Biden. Cuomo should be prosecuted.
