But here is how Trump insinuated to his MAGA peanut gallery, in his typically whining fashion, that they’re picking on him (but ignoring Hunter Biden and his laptop…?).
Former President Donald Trump said Monday that the FBI “raided” his Florida home at Mar-a-Lago and even cracked his safe, with a source familiar telling NBC News that the search was tied to classified information Trump allegedly took with him from the White House to his Palm Beach resort in January 2021.
Trump also claimed in a written statement that the search — unprecedented in American history — was politically motivated, though he did not provide specifics.
(NBC News, August 8, 2022)
Except that the timing of this FBI search (as it was not a raid) couldn’t have been better. After all, this wannabe mafia Don is complaining because the FBI is finally treating him like the criminal suspect he has always been.
But nothing undermines his complaint quite like reports going viral today about him routinely clogging up toilets throughout his presidency while trying flush down incriminating evidence.
And that was compounded by news that, throughout his presidency, he vented frustration that “his generals” were not showing him the kind of loyalty Hitler’s generals showed him. Which of course was just Trump dimwittingly admitting he was trying to be like Hitler … and expected his generals to act accordingly.
This is why his complaining is as unwarranted as it is laughable…
Joe’s got ‘the big mo’
On the other hand, it appears Merrick Garland is vindicating Biden for picking him as attorney general – at long last. No less noteworthy, though is that Biden must be having the best week of any president in US history.
After all, it will be marked, and only in part, by killing al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, expanding Veterans health benefits, returning existential building of chips to America from China, lowering gas prices for an unprecedented 50-straight days, reducing unemployment to the lowest rate in 50 years, getting the Senate to pass the Inflation Reduction Act to, among other things, combat climate change, reduce the deficit, expand Obamacare and Medicare, and tax corporations more equitably … and now this.
Everyone in Washington is speculating about whether or not he should run for a second term. But Biden might want to cap off a week like that with a drop-the-mic announcement. He should say the record is now clear that, instead of two four-year terms, he has completed his agenda in just two years. And that he therefore sees no point in running for a second term…
But he should end by saying that, even though he plans to serve out the rest of this term, he hopes everyone will understand if he puts more and more duties in the very capable hands of his vice president Kamala Harris.
Biden should then spend the remaining two years of his presidency rooting out the MAGA stooges Trump planted, in federal agencies like the Secret Service and departments like the Pentagon, who are just lying in wait (in their “Deep State”) to do his insurrectionist 2.0 bidding. And he should work with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to accelerate that judicial confirmation conveyor belt to get as many judges confirmed to counter the mischievous intent of those Trump appointed.
In other words, he should spend as much time trying to reinforce democracy here in America as he does trying to rescue it over in Ukraine…
Trump’s looming regret
That said, despite all the tantalizing speculation, some of which already have Trump behind bars, nobody knows where today’s search will end up for this career criminal suspect. But what I do know is that it is crying out for me to reprise this fateful prediction from “Trump Brand Now So Toxic, It Appeals Only to Sleazy Used Car Salesmen,” June 7, 2021:
Trump will be the first man in history to rue the day he was ever elected president of the United States.
Finally, much is being made of this gilded-tower scoundrel using this FBI search to seek the refuge he thinks running for president will give him from prosecution. But I trust AG Garland’s declarations to the contrary, which means such thinking could only offer comfort to a fool like Donald J. Trump.
