China’s meddling in US elections is now as brazen as Russia’s. Using fake accounts to foment unrest, their strategy is to divide and conquer — just like Russia’s in Ukraine, only online.

Except that this axis of autocracies is like the gang that couldn’t shoot straight: Russia wants Trump to win, Iran wants Harris, and China just wants chaos, hoping political dysfunction will cause economic recession.

Feckless, Hapless America…?

These digital attacks make the US look like a whale being nibbled by sharks and piranhas. Ironically, its failure to retaliate mirrors how it has prevented Ukraine from using US weapons to retaliate against Russia. This has forced Ukraine to fight with one hand tied behind its back.

It’s high time the US fought fire with fire. Sanctions are a joke. Thanks to China’s largesse, Russia and Iran have been treating sanctions like confetti for years. Instead, the US needs to grow a pair and hit them where it hurts — undermining their autocracies the way they’re undermining US democracy.
