Ah, yes, because the real tragedy of these wildfires is the loss of celebrity (second) homes. Forget the ordinary people who lost their only homes or the firefighters risking their lives to protect what’s left. They’re just the extras on this Hollywood disaster set, apparently.
At least Arnold Schwarzenegger had the decency to reject this self-centered narrative, telling reporters, “Don’t worry about me.” He urged the media to focus instead on the so-called “extras.” Here’s to more celebrities following his lead — especially the attention-seeking B-listers all over the media making this tragedy about themselves.
And if Schwarzenegger is the reluctant hero in this story, James Woods is the opportunistic villain. As the fires raged, Woods spent his time lamenting the supposed loss of his home, only to later share — like the smug plot twist nobody wanted — that “a miracle has happened,” and his house had been spared.
Never mind that he’d already stolen the grief of real victims for a media spotlight he couldn’t resist. But really, what’s more Trumpian than stealing someone else’s pain for personal gain? So this MAGA-crusading SOB couldn’t be more thrilled with himself.
