On Wednesday evening, an American Airlines regional jet collided midair with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The jet carried 64 people; the helicopter had three soldiers on board. Both aircraft plunged into the Potomac River. Rescue teams have recovered 28 bodies from the icy waters. Authorities fear there are no survivors.
Trump began his second term like a political tsunami, highlighted by his order to freeze all government spending. But instead of apologizing for the shock and dismay this caused, the administration is touting its motto: “All gas, no brakes.” But you’d expect that from a demolition derby, not the US government.
So what could go wrong? Ironically, perhaps an army helicopter flying directly into a passenger plane over DC without applying any brakes…
My condolences to the loved ones of those who perished.
