Evangelicals forsaking Christianity for Trumpism

Evangelical Christians made clear way back in 2015 that they were willing to sacrifice their faith, even abandon all common sense, to support Donald Trump. More to the point, this diabolical shyster realized right away that the more he insults their intelligence and defiles their religion, the more they support him. 

They keep proving him right. That alone explains their buying into this selling-snow-to-Eskimos gimmick:

‘Happy Holy Week! Let’s Make America Pray Again. As we lead into Good Friday and Easter, I encourage you to get a copy of the God Bless the USA Bible.’

That’s his blasphemous pitch. He capped it off by herding his (White) evangelical Christian flock, who compose his MAGA base, to a website peddling his Bible for one easy payment of $59.99. Frankly, this grift is even more insulting and contemptuous than the gilded sneakers he pitched to woo Black voters. 

By the way, a real billionaire Christian would be donating these Bibles. But doing so never occurred to this gilded-tower grifter because he’s neither a billionaire nor a Christian.

Trump, the Luceferian

Arguably, this is Trump just trolling evangelical Christians. He knows they have already forsaken God to serve his diabolical ambitions. Now, as he is wont to do, Trump is mocking their abject devotion to him. That’s his perverse way of compelling them to show that he’s equally worthy of worship as their forsaken Jesus Christ. 

It’s as if Trump is channeling Satan, who tried to coax Jesus into breaking his 40-day fast by tempting him with everything from food to absolute power. But forget that proverbial question: What would Jesus do? Because, unlike Jesus, evangelical Christians keep giving in to Trump’s temptation. 

Accordingly, Trump has induced them to betray all religious principles for the illusion of political power. Moreover, he has made them complicit in high crimes and misdemeanors that make crooked Dick Nixon look petty.

Indeed, the only reason Trump felt entitled to sell Bibles so shamelessly is that he has bankrupted evangelicals of all Christian values. Loyalty to him is the only value they have left. They might as well be worshipping by shouting: Christ is dead. Trump is now our Lord and Savior!
