The Swift conspiracy
For Republicans, everything is about their cult leader, Donald J. Trump. Only that explains this:
Republicans have speculated that Swift is some sort of Pentagon plant, ginned up by secret liberal forces to swing the 2024 presidential election while also boosting the fortunes of the Kansas City Chiefs, who are headed into the Super Bowl with Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, a tight end.

Republicans’ owing the libs’
This plainly absurd conspiracy was the trending news story this week. And that speaks volumes about the state of American politics and culture.
After all, everyone knows that conspiracy nuts now control the Republican Party. Yet the media went all atwitter because those nutters were spreading another one about Taylor Swift.
My only reason for commenting is to denounce the liberal media for reporting on this conspiracy.
After all, Donald Trump mastered the art of spouting outrageous statements, fully aware that their absurdity would trigger the media’s Pavlovian response. This tactic is how Republicans “own the libs.”
Sure enough, just as it was with Trump, CNN and other media outlets feign outrage while covering every outrageous thing MAGA Republicans say and do. News anchors are no better than Catholic priests who preach sexual abstinence on Sunday only to sexually molest little boys on Monday.
The sad truth is that media outlets get off too much on the ratings coverage like this generates. That’s why they never ignore the irrelevant things irrelevant MAGA Republicans say. If they did, for example, nobody outside the Fox News echo chamber would even know about this silly Taylor conspiracy.
